1. What size range is considered "big" for a compression tank?
Most guides consider men above a XL-2XL, roughly 240 lbs and up, to benefit from tanks with extended length, wider stretch range, and a reinforced waistband. Standard sizing is usually built around a much smaller average frame.
2. Is extra length that important?
Yes. A tank that's too short will un-tuck itself with normal movement. That undoes the compression and the smoothing effect it's supposed to provide.
3. Can a standard-size compression tank work if I size up?
It can help, but sizing up alone often adds width, not the length or waistband hold that bigger frames actually need. Without those adjustments, an upsized standard tank still tends to ride up and shift out of place.
4. Do bigger guys need a different fabric than standard compression tanks?
Not a different fabric, but one with a wider stretch range matters more. A fabric blend that's already near its stretch limit at your size will feel tight rather than compressive. It also won't hold its shape as well over a full day.
